Islamabad (HRNW)<\/strong> \u2013 The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA)<\/strong> has approved the recovery of Rs. 200 billion<\/strong> in grid system costs for the National Grid Company, a move that could result in additional financial pressure on electricity consumers across Pakistan.<\/p>\n

According to available information, the National Grid Company had filed a petition seeking recovery of revenue-related system costs incurred over the past three years. Following public proceedings, NEPRA issued its written decision approving the request.<\/p>\n

The approved recovery is expected to begin from 1 August 2026<\/strong>. The amount will reportedly be collected through electricity distribution companies (DISCOs), including LESCO<\/strong> and other distribution utilities operating across the country.<\/p>\n

Officials indicated that DISCOs will be permitted to recover the approved amount through electricity tariffs, which may lead to an increase in the per-unit electricity price<\/strong> and, consequently, higher monthly electricity bills for consumers.<\/p>\n

According to the authorities, the recovered funds are intended to cover National Grid system-related expenses. However, the decision is expected to have a direct financial impact on residential, commercial, and industrial electricity users.<\/p>\n
