Tehran (HRNW)-\u00a0Iran has reacted strongly to the United States’ reimposition of restrictions targeting Iranian oil and gas exports, warning that if its energy exports are blocked, other regional oil and gas export routes serving the interests of the U.S. and its allies may also face risks.<\/p>\n
According to the Iranian news agency Tasnim, Iranian officials stated that if sanctions on the country’s oil and gas exports remain in place, other energy supply routes in the region could also be affected.<\/p>\n
Tasnim quoted the Iranian position as saying that “oil and gas exports will be for everyone or for no one,” following the U.S. decision to restore restrictions on vessels associated with Iranian ports.<\/p>\n
According to reports, the United States reinstated measures targeting Iranian oil and gas exports from July 15, affecting ships linked to Iranian ports and maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz.<\/p>\n
The move follows the expiration of a temporary period during which restrictions had been eased after a ceasefire, with Washington now adopting a tougher stance following renewed regional tensions.<\/p>\n
Iranian officials said that if the country’s exports are halted, it has the capability to affect other regional energy supply routes.<\/p>\n
Observers note that Iran has previously warned it could use the strategic importance of the Strait of Hormuz as leverage during periods of heightened tensions.<\/p>\n
Analysts say the continuing dispute between the United States and Iran could have significant implications for the Middle East, global energy markets, oil prices, and international maritime trade.<\/p>\n
