Karachi (HRNW)-\u00a0Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has attributed the ongoing flour crisis to the low wheat support price, saying it was fixed on the instructions of the federal government, resulting in reduced wheat procurement.<\/p>\n
Speaking to the media in Karachi, the Chief Minister said the Sindh government had decided to purchase wheat from hoarders in accordance with the law at a rate of Rs3,000 per maund. He added that the Prime Minister was also holding a meeting on the wheat and flour situation, while emphasizing that the Sindh government should not be responsible for regulating wheat procurement.<\/p>\n
Responding to a question, Murad Ali Shah announced that a new port would be developed at Keti Bandar in Sindh to strengthen the province’s maritime infrastructure.<\/p>\n
Addressing the security situation, the Chief Minister said Pakistan continues to face the threat of terrorism and that Karachi remains a key target for terrorist groups. He assured that law enforcement agencies are closely monitoring the situation and will not allow terrorists to regroup. Referring to Balochistan, he said a detailed discussion had been held on the province’s security situation and reiterated that the people of Balochistan are sincere and committed to Pakistan.<\/p>\n
Earlier, while addressing the Indonesia-Pakistan Investment and Trade Forum, Murad Ali Shah described Indonesia as one of Pakistan\u2019s most important partners, saying the two countries share a long-standing relationship based on mutual respect, cultural ties, and cooperation.<\/p>\n
He stated that Pakistan and Indonesia have consistently supported each other at regional and international forums, adding that stronger economic and trade cooperation would further deepen bilateral relations.<\/p>\n
Highlighting Sindh\u2019s economic significance, the Chief Minister said the province is the driving force of Pakistan\u2019s economy, while Karachi serves as the country’s financial and commercial hub. He noted that Sindh plays a major role in national revenue, industrial production, exports, and investment.<\/p>\n
Murad Ali Shah said Sindh, as Pakistan\u2019s principal port province, offers extensive industrial zones, modern financial institutions, and a favorable business climate. He added that the provincial government has introduced reforms to facilitate investment, modernize infrastructure, expand digital services, and promote sustainable economic growth.<\/p>\n
He also welcomed ongoing discussions between Pakistan and Indonesia on the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), expressing hope that the agreement would further strengthen economic integration and business-to-business cooperation between the two countries.<\/p>\n
At the conclusion of the forum, the Sindh Chief Minister thanked the Indonesian Consulate, the event organizers, and all participants for their contribution to strengthening bilateral ties.<\/p>\n
