Karachi (HRNW)-\u00a0A case has been registered at Mobina Town Police Station following a violent clash between students in the Sindhi Culture Department of the University of Karachi, while the Sindh government has also constituted a high-level inquiry committee to investigate the incident.<\/p>\n
According to the FIR, the case was registered on the complaint of Nazir Ahmed, a student of the Sindhi Culture Department, naming 20 students along with several unidentified individuals. The complainant alleged that after classes, a group of students entered the department laboratory, verbally abused him and later assaulted him with kicks and punches.<\/p>\n
The FIR further states that when the complainant tried to escape, several other individuals armed with sticks and iron rods allegedly attacked him. Students who attempted to intervene were also allegedly assaulted, leaving several injured with head, arm and body injuries.<\/p>\n
Police said a case has been registered under sections relating to rioting, assault and other relevant offences, and an investigation is underway. Officials are collecting CCTV footage and examining all aspects of the incident to determine the motives behind the clash and identify those responsible. According to SHO Mobina Town Inam Janejo, five suspects were arrested during a police operation following the incident.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Sindh Universities Minister Muhammad Ismail Rahu has ordered a high-level inquiry into the clash. A five-member committee headed by Dr. Hussain Mehdi, Vice Chancellor of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto University, Lyari, has been formed to conduct a transparent and impartial investigation.<\/p>\n
The committee has been directed to examine every aspect of the incident, identify those responsible, review any administrative or security lapses, and recommend legal action where necessary. The inquiry committee has been instructed to submit its report and recommendations to the Sindh Universities and Boards Department within 15 days.<\/p>\n
Following the incident, security has been further strengthened across the Karachi University campus as investigations continue.<\/p>\n
