According to media reports, the Venezuelan government said urgent financial resources are needed to provide emergency relief, restore infrastructure, rebuild housing, strengthen healthcare services and deliver other essential assistance following the natural disaster. Authorities argued that the frozen government assets belong to the people of Venezuela and should be released for humanitarian recovery efforts.<\/p>\n
The government has urged the United States, the United Kingdom and other Western countries to remove financial restrictions created by sanctions and frozen assets so that immediate assistance can be provided to earthquake victims.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, the United States and several Western countries maintain that some Venezuelan government assets remain frozen due to sanctions and ongoing legal disputes, and that any decision regarding their release will be made in accordance with applicable court rulings and legal procedures.<\/p>\n
According to analysts, the release of at least part of the frozen assets could accelerate reconstruction in the earthquake-affected regions. However, they note that significant progress is unlikely in the near term due to ongoing political and legal disagreements at the international level.<\/p>\n
