Karachi (HRNW): <\/strong>Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab<\/strong> has formally inaugurated a Special Police Station of the Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation (KW&SC)<\/strong> aimed at taking effective legal action against water theft, illegal connections, and unauthorized hydrant operations in the city.<\/p>\n

The inauguration ceremony was attended by KW&SC Chief Executive Officer Ahmed Ali Siddiqui, Chief Operating Officer Engineer Asadullah Khan, Chief Financial Officer Ammar Ali Khan<\/strong>, and other senior officials.<\/p>\n

Mayor Karachi stated that, for the first time in Karachi\u2019s history, a dedicated police station has been established to address cases related to water theft, illegal connections, and the illegal hydrant network. He said the initiative marks a significant step toward protecting Karachi\u2019s water resources and ensuring citizens receive their rightful share of water supply.<\/p>\n

According to the Mayor, the special police station has been established under the Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation Act<\/strong> and has been granted legal authority and powers to handle water theft-related matters. All cases involving water theft will now be registered at this specialized station to make the process of complaint registration, investigation, and legal proceedings faster, more effective, and transparent.<\/p>\n

Barrister Murtaza Wahab said the Water Corporation has adopted a zero-tolerance policy<\/strong> against water theft, illegal connections, and unauthorized hydrants. He emphasized that strict and impartial action will be taken against individuals and groups obstructing the fair distribution of water to citizens.<\/p>\n

Officials stated that the special police station will strengthen action against those involved in unauthorized use of public water resources, illegal hydrant operations, and activities causing disruption to the city’s water supply system.<\/p>\n

Public rights experts note that protecting water resources and ensuring fair access to essential services are important components of citizens\u2019 rights. They added that the effectiveness of this initiative will depend on transparent monitoring, impartial enforcement, and strong institutional accountability.<\/p>\n
