Islamabad (HRNW)-\u00a0A new report on the dangers of corruption in Pakistan\u2019s judicial system, the decline in judicial independence and the impact on human rights has been released, claiming that corruption has become systematic in various sectors of the judiciary, which has severely damaged the right to a fair trial, equality before the law and the protection of fundamental rights.<\/p>\n
The report was jointly released by the International Federation for Human Rights and its member organization, the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan. The report is based on 30 interviews conducted with lawyers, judges, journalists, academics and civil society representatives.<\/p>\n
The report stated that corruption exists in Pakistan\u2019s judicial system in various forms, including bribery, nepotism, decisions based on personal preferences, and a continuous decline in judicial independence. According to the report, these factors have affected the autonomy and role of the judiciary, with the impact of judicial corruption being felt most by minorities and women.<\/p>\n
