Tehran (HRNW)-\u00a0The head of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, Mohammad Baqer Zolqadr, has said that the Iranian nation called for resistance and revenge during the funeral prayers and burial ceremonies of former Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.<\/p>\n
According to Iranian media, National Security Council Secretary Mohammad Baqer Zolqadr said in a statement that the world should keep its eyes on Iran in the coming days, adding that those who believed Iran could be forced to surrender within a few days had misjudged the country’s resolve.<\/p>\n
He said that a massive crowd gathered at the funeral of the former Supreme Leader, chanting slogans calling for resistance against the country’s enemies and revenge for the blood of Iran’s martyred leader.<\/p>\n
According to the report, former Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed in an attack on Iran on February 28. The report also states that several members of his family, senior Revolutionary Guards commanders, and other high-ranking political figures were killed in the same attack.<\/p>\n
The report further states that a ceasefire between Iran and the United States was reached after 40 days of conflict, followed by the signing of the Islamabad Peace Accord under Pakistan’s mediation. It adds that direct negotiations between the two countries have since begun, with previous rounds held in Switzerland and Qatar.<\/p>\n
According to foreign media reports, the next round of Iran-US talks is scheduled to take place in Islamabad on July 11.<\/p>\n
