Beijing (HRNW)-\u00a0Iran has indicated that it is working on a new arrangement for ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz under which special facilities could be provided to China and other friendly countries.<\/p>\n
According to the International News Agency, the announcement was made by Iran\u2019s Ambassador to China, Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli, during his address at the World Peace Forum in Beijing. He said the initiative is being developed in cooperation with Oman.<\/p>\n
The Iranian ambassador stated that a fee is expected to be introduced for ships transiting the Strait of Hormuz, while China and other friendly countries would receive preferential benefits under the proposed policy.<\/p>\n
Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli said the purpose of the proposed fee is not to violate international law but to improve the management, security, and services of the strategic maritime route.<\/p>\n
He added that Iran and Oman are coordinating closely on the project to enhance the organization, safety, and efficiency of maritime trade passing through the Strait of Hormuz.<\/p>\n
During his address, the ambassador described China as one of Iran\u2019s key strategic partners and said cooperation between the two countries in the fields of energy, trade, infrastructure, and regional security continues to expand. He added that the proposed Strait of Hormuz policy is part of this broader cooperation.<\/p>\n
