Lahore (HRNW)-\u00a0The brother-in-law of retired Pakistan Navy Commander Amir Hindal, who died along with his family in the Lake Saifullah tragedy, has expressed suspicion of murder and demanded a thorough investigation into the incident.<\/p>\n
Talking to the media, Naveed Cheema, the brother-in-law of deceased retired Lieutenant Commander Amir Hindal, said that the government\u2019s gross incompetence is behind this tragedy. He questioned why tourists were not informed if there was flooding in the lake and why no precautionary measures or safety instructions were provided.<\/p>\n
He said that no life jackets were provided and that although an FIR had been registered after the tragedy, the family had not been informed about the progress of the investigation.<\/p>\n
Naveed Cheema said that he would not remain silent and would pursue a complete investigation into the incident, adding that three generations of his family had been lost in the tragedy. He also alleged that the rescue vehicle transporting the victims ran out of fuel on the way.<\/p>\n
He further urged the government to investigate another angle, claiming that Commander Amir Hindal had an ongoing property dispute with relatives and had allegedly received death threats.<\/p>\n
According to him, Amir Hindal\u2019s daughters and one grandson were still breathing when they were rescued, and there is footage showing CPR being administered to the child. He questioned why immediate medical assistance was not available at the hospital due to the absence of staff.<\/p>\n
Naveed Cheema also alleged that Commander Amir Hindal\u2019s nephew had illegally occupied his farmhouse and turned it into a drug den. He claimed that Amir Hindal had previously submitted an application to the Regional Police Officer (RPO) seeking action against the alleged occupation.<\/p>\n
It is worth recalling that on July 1, Amir Hindal, a resident of Lahore, was boating with his family at Lake Saifullah in the Mahodand area of Swat, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, when the boat capsized. Six members of the family lost their lives, including retired Lieutenant Commander Amir Hindal, his 20-year-old son Abdullah Hindal, daughters Parva Hindal (27) and Rawal Hindal (23), and Parva Hindal\u2019s two young children.<\/p>\n
