Geneva (HRNW)<\/strong> \u2013 The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) on 30 June 2026 warned that the global displacement crisis is continuing to worsen, with millions of refugees and internally displaced persons facing rising vulnerability due to severe funding shortages.<\/p>\n

According to UNHCR\u2019s latest operational brief, humanitarian programmes in several regions are under pressure as reduced donor contributions force agencies to scale back essential services, including shelter, food assistance, and protection programmes. The agency noted that forcibly displaced populations are increasingly exposed to prolonged insecurity, especially in conflict-affected regions and fragile states.<\/p>\n

UNHCR also highlighted that climate-related disasters, ongoing wars, and economic instability are driving new waves of displacement, further stretching already limited humanitarian resources. Field operations in multiple countries are reportedly being consolidated or reduced to prioritize emergency cases.<\/p>\n

The agency urged the international community to urgently close the funding gap to prevent millions of vulnerable people from losing access to life-saving assistance.<\/p>\n
