According to a private television report, citizens were forced to purchase fuel at record prices throughout the fiscal year ending on June 30, 2026, amid a series of government price adjustments and higher petroleum-related charges.<\/p>\n
Official data cited in the report shows that the price of high-speed diesel increased by Rs257.76 per litre during the fiscal year. The report also noted that the government imposed a historically high petroleum levy, further increasing fuel costs for consumers.<\/p>\n
During the same period, the price of petrol rose by Rs199.98 per litre, adding to the financial pressure on households already struggling with inflation and rising living expenses.<\/p>\n
