Karachi (HRNW)-\u00a0Senior Sindh Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon has announced that the Sindh government has allocated more than Rs100 billion for Karachi in the 2026\u201327 provincial budget, with plans to introduce 500 modern electric and double-decker buses to improve the city’s public transport system.<\/p>\n
In a statement, Sharjeel Inam Memon said the development and prosperity of Karachi, along with the provision of essential civic amenities, remain among the Sindh government’s highest priorities. He said the allocated funds will be utilized for water supply projects, drainage improvements, road construction and rehabilitation, and the enhancement of other public facilities.<\/p>\n
The senior minister said the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) believes in delivering practical public service rather than making promises, adding that addressing the problems faced by Karachi’s residents is the government’s responsibility and commitment.<\/p>\n
He noted that one of the city’s greatest needs is a modern, safe, and reliable public transport system, and said the Sindh government is taking historic steps to meet this demand. According to Memon, 500 modern electric buses and double-decker buses will soon begin operating on Karachi’s roads, providing improved travel facilities for commuters.<\/p>\n
Sharjeel Inam Memon also highlighted employment generation as a key component of the provincial government’s economic strategy. He said the 2026\u201327 budget gives special importance to youth development and that industrial zones, transport initiatives, infrastructure projects, and other development schemes are expected to create thousands of new employment opportunities.<\/p>\n
He added that the PPP has always focused on the welfare of ordinary citizens, workers, farmers, youth, and the middle class, and said the Sindh government is investing its resources in improving living standards through employment, education, healthcare, and modern civic infrastructure.<\/p>\n
The senior minister further stated that while some political elements attempt to portray a negative image of Karachi and Sindh, residents can see ongoing development projects, improvements in public transport, infrastructure works, and welfare initiatives for themselves. He described the 2026\u201327 budget as a roadmap for practical progress, employment generation, and a more prosperous Sindh.<\/p>\n
