Karachi (HRNW)<\/strong> \u2013 Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah<\/strong> addressed the Sindh Assembly during the budget debate, outlining the provincial government’s fiscal priorities, security measures, disaster preparedness, and agricultural achievements.<\/p>\n

The Chief Minister acknowledged that Sindh is facing financial challenges and emphasized that the timely transfer of funds from the federal government remains crucial for the province’s financial stability. He said additional federal funds are expected to be received on 30 June<\/strong>, after which the Finance Department will provide complete details.<\/p>\n

Speaking on security, Murad Ali Shah said that approximately Rs. 6 billion<\/strong> has been allocated outside the regular budget for the Sindh Police. He added that additional funds have also been earmarked for security operations in the riverine (“Katcha”) areas and for maintaining law and order across the province.<\/p>\n

The Chief Minister paid tribute to the Pakistan Rangers personnel martyred in the recent terrorist attack in Karachi<\/strong>, expressing condolences to their families and honoring their sacrifice in the line of duty.<\/p>\n

On disaster management, he stated that funds have been allocated to address potential flood situations and emergency response activities. He also noted that since the devastating floods of 2010<\/strong>, Sindh’s river embankments have remained intact and have not suffered any breaches.<\/p>\n

Highlighting progress in the agriculture sector, Murad Ali Shah said Sindh achieved a record wheat production of 4.9 million tonnes<\/strong> this year, bringing the province close to self-sufficiency in wheat production for the first time.<\/p>\n

He further stated that the provincial government provided Rs. 43.2 billion<\/strong> in subsidies to support small-scale farmers. According to the Chief Minister, agricultural development initiatives have improved farmers’ access to resources and contributed to higher crop yields.<\/p>\n

Referring to the government’s tractor subsidy program, Murad Ali Shah stressed that transparency had been ensured throughout the process, declaring that he would take responsibility if even “a single rupee’s worth of irregularity” were proven.<\/p>\n

He also said that easing motorcycle registration procedures had benefited farmers by improving transportation and access to agricultural services.<\/p>\n
