Islamabad (HRNW)-\u00a0In memory of the great sacrifices of the grandson of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA), and the martyrs of Karbala, mourning processions and religious gatherings were held across Pakistan on Ashura (10th Muharram). The processions concluded peacefully through their designated routes under extensive security arrangements.<\/p>\n
According to reports, mourning processions were taken out in major cities including Karachi, Lahore, Rawalpindi, Sukkur, Hyderabad, Peshawar, and Quetta, as well as in numerous towns across the country. Law enforcement agencies implemented comprehensive security measures to ensure the peaceful observance of Ashura.<\/p>\n
Authorities blocked non-essential traffic along procession routes, while Section 144 remained in force in sensitive areas, prohibiting the display of weapons. In selected locations, mobile phone and internet services were temporarily suspended as a precautionary measure. Pillion riding was also banned in several parts of the country to enhance public safety.<\/p>\n
Religious gatherings (Majalis) were organized nationwide, where scholars and Zakirs highlighted the sacrifices of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and the martyrs of Karbala, emphasizing their message of truth, justice, patience, sacrifice and steadfastness against oppression.<\/p>\n
Special police, Rangers and other security personnel were deployed across major cities, while checkpoints and monitoring arrangements were established along procession routes.<\/p>\n
In Karachi, the main Ashura procession began from Nishtar Park and concluded at Imambargah Hussainia Iranian Kharadar through its traditional route.<\/p>\n
In Lahore, the principal procession started from Imambargah Ashiq Hussain, while the Shabih Zuljanah procession commenced from Nisar Haveli and concluded at Karbala Gamay Shah, with thousands of mourners participating.<\/p>\n
In Peshawar, the main procession started from Imambargah Agha Syed Ali Raza Shah, where several other processions joined before reaching their final destination.<\/p>\n
In Quetta, the central procession began from Imambargah Hussaini Sadat, Syedabad Alamdar Road, with 35 Zuljanah and Alam processions participating. Relief camps, drinking water and refreshment stalls were also established along the procession routes for mourners.<\/p>\n
Following the conclusion of the processions, Sham-e-Ghariban gatherings were held across the country. During these gatherings, Zakirs narrated the events that followed the tragedy of Karbala, after which mourners paid tribute to the sacrifices of Imam Hussain (RA) and the martyrs before peacefully dispersing.<\/p>\n
