Dalian (HRNW)-\u00a0Chinese Premier Li Qiang has said that no one benefits from trade wars or tariff wars, emphasizing that China has never deliberately pursued a trade surplus and remains committed to promoting balanced and mutually beneficial global trade.<\/p>\n
According to CGTN, Premier Li Qiang made these remarks during a dialogue with business and industry leaders from around the world on the sidelines of the 2026 Summer Davos Forum in Dalian. The meeting was attended by around 150 business representatives from more than 30 countries and regions.<\/p>\n
After listening to the views of business leaders, Li Qiang said that the international community increasingly recognizes that trade wars and tariff disputes produce no winners. He noted that many countries are returning to economic cooperation based on mutual benefit and shared prosperity.<\/p>\n
The Chinese premier stated that China\u2019s high-quality exports play an important role in the global economy by supporting economic growth in importing countries and improving public welfare. He stressed that China does not intentionally seek a trade surplus and is willing to import more high-quality products from around the world to promote balanced and healthy global trade development.<\/p>\n
Li Qiang also said that China\u2019s industrial subsidy policies are consistent with the rules of the World Trade Organization (WTO) and that domestic and foreign companies are treated equally. He highlighted China’s ongoing transition toward innovation-driven and high-quality economic development, which he said is creating new opportunities for international businesses.<\/p>\n
Reaffirming China’s commitment to economic openness, Li Qiang said the Chinese government will continue providing support and facilities for companies worldwide while striving to create a more open, fair, and business-friendly environment for investors and enterprises.<\/p>\n
