KARACHI (HRNW)-<\/strong> Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Insaf Lawyers Wing Karachi Division senior leader Advocate Hasnain Ali Chauhan has strongly criticised the ongoing Sindh Assembly budget session, alleging that the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) are engaged in \u201cpolitical theatre\u201d instead of addressing pressing public issues.<\/p>\n

In a statement issued on Tuesday, Mr Chauhan said that rather than holding serious discussions on inflation, education, healthcare, clean drinking water and civic amenities, both parties were busy trading political accusations and misleading the public.<\/p>\n

He alleged that the Sindh budget relied on \u201cpaper figures and accounting adjustments\u201d while failing to address the real problems faced by citizens. He argued that Karachi, the economic hub of the province and a city that contributes nearly 90 per cent of Sindh\u2019s revenue, had been allocated only Rs100 billion in development funds, which he described as grossly inadequate.<\/p>\n

Mr Chauhan said that the residents of Karachi continued to suffer from poor public services, including inadequate healthcare and education facilities, a shortage of clean drinking water, deteriorating roads and unresolved sewerage issues.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn such circumstances, ignoring Karachi in the provincial budget reflects an anti-Karachi policy and a lack of commitment to resolving the city\u2019s longstanding challenges,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The PTI leader further claimed that his party remained the majority political force in Karachi and alleged that the public mandate had been undermined through electoral manipulation, enabling representatives to enter the assemblies without genuinely representing the people\u2019s will.<\/p>\n

He demanded that Karachi, as a mega city, be provided development funds and public projects in proportion to its population, economic contribution and growing infrastructure needs.<\/p>\n

Mr Chauhan said successive promises regarding large-scale development initiatives for Karachi had failed to materialise, adding that despite repeated announcements by provincial and local authorities, the city continued to face serious deficiencies in basic civic services.<\/p>\n

He reiterated PTI\u2019s commitment to raising its voice for the rights of Karachi\u2019s residents and vowed to continue advocating for what he described as the city\u2019s fair share of resources and development opportunities.<\/p>\n
