Tehran (HRNW)-\u00a0Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has released more details about the preliminary agreement with the United States, claiming that all the clauses of the memorandum of understanding are in Iran\u2019s favor and that the positive results of the agreement will soon be revealed.<\/p>\n
According to the Iranian news agency Tasnim, President Masoud Pezeshkian said that Iran has achieved important diplomatic successes through the recent negotiations and agreement with the United States. He said that the results of the negotiations will soon be revealed to the public and it will be clear that Iran has fully defended its national interests.<\/p>\n
President Pezeshkian said that Iran\u2019s frozen funds worth $6 billion in Qatar will be returned under the agreement. He said that this amount is Iran\u2019s right and its return will prove to be a significant development for the Iranian economy.<\/p>\n
Referring to US President Donald Trump\u2019s recent stance, he said that Trump had imposed several sanctions on Iran in the past and talked about preventing certain activities, but now the same rights are being recognized as the legitimate rights of the Iranian people.<\/p>\n
The Iranian president also criticized Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, saying that Netanyahu would be the most unhappy figure with the talks in Switzerland, as he has been opposed to diplomatic progress between Iran and the United States.<\/p>\n
Masoud Pezeshkian added that the US\u2019s only basic condition is that Iran does not acquire nuclear weapons. He stressed that Iran\u2019s position has always been that it does not intend to build an atomic bomb.<\/p>\n
Citing a fatwa by Iran\u2019s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, he said that Iran\u2019s religious leadership has repeatedly made it clear that the development and use of nuclear weapons is against Islamic teachings.<\/p>\n
According to President Pezeshkian, the US requested that Iran\u2019s position be put in writing, after which both sides signed the document.<\/p>\n
Political observers say that if the agreement is fully implemented, it could prove to be a turning point in Iran-US relations, while also paving the way for reducing tensions in the region and easing economic sanctions.<\/p>\n
