TEHRAN (HRNW)-\u00a0Iranian officials have postponed their planned visit to Switzerland for peace talks, following a similar decision by the United States, according to media reports.<\/p>\n
The Iranian Foreign Ministry told a news agency that the visit was delayed due to the ongoing situation in Lebanon and recent Israeli military operations in the country. Officials also indicated that the final venue and arrangements for the talks have not yet been fully confirmed.<\/p>\n
According to reports, Iranian sources stated that recent Israeli strikes in Lebanon resulted in multiple casualties and represented one of the most intense rounds of bombardment in recent days. The developments have reportedly influenced Tehran’s decision to postpone the diplomatic visit.<\/p>\n
Sources added that Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi and Parliament Speaker and chief negotiator Mohammad Baqir Qalibaf were prepared to depart for Switzerland, but the trip was postponed shortly before their scheduled departure.<\/p>\n
In a statement, Mohammad Baqir Qalibaf said that any future negotiations with the United States would remain subject to Iran’s established national interests and what he described as Tehran’s “red lines.” He stressed that Iran would continue to safeguard its strategic interests during any diplomatic process.<\/p>\n
The postponement of visits by both the American and Iranian delegations has raised further uncertainty about the timing of future negotiations, although both sides have previously expressed support for continued diplomatic engagement.<\/p>\n
