ISLAMABAD (HRNW)-\u00a0A petition has been filed in the Islamabad High Court against officials of the Ministry of Planning over allegations of demanding bribes in exchange for the release of outstanding payments worth millions of rupees.<\/p>\n
According to the petition, several contractors and companies approached the court, alleging that their legitimate dues have been withheld and that certain officials demanded bribes for processing and releasing the payments.<\/p>\n
Justice Khadim Hussain Soomro heard the matter and issued pre-admission notices to the Secretary of the Ministry of Planning and other relevant parties. A written order was also issued following the hearing.<\/p>\n
The petitioners requested the court to direct the Ministry of Planning to release their outstanding payments and to obtain all relevant records, including work orders and bill verification files, for examination.<\/p>\n
The petition further alleges that three officials of the ministry misused their authority by delaying payments and demanding illegal gratification. The court has been requested to declare the alleged actions of the officers illegal, malicious, and an abuse of authority.<\/p>\n
The petitioners have also sought directions for departmental proceedings to be initiated against the concerned officials if the allegations are proven.<\/p>\n
Further proceedings in the case are expected after responses are submitted by the relevant government authorities.<\/p>\n
