Rawalpindi (HRNW)-\u00a0Aleema Khan requested that important figures, including federal ministers and senior journalists, be summoned as court witnesses during the hearing of the November 26 protest case involving 11 accused persons, including herself.<\/p>\n
The case was heard in a Special Anti-Terrorism Court in Rawalpindi by Judge Amjad Ali Shah, with Senior Prosecutor Zaheer Shah and the prosecution team present in court. The hearing was adjourned until 1:00 PM tomorrow.<\/p>\n
During the proceedings, Aleema Khan appeared before the court along with her lawyer Muhammad Faisal Malik, while lawyer Naeem Haider Panjotha was also present. The defense filed a petition requesting that 21 prosecution witnesses be summoned as court witnesses. The court accepted the petition for hearing and issued notices to the relevant parties.<\/p>\n
The petition seeks the appearance of Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, and Provincial Chief Minister Bukhari as court witnesses. It also requests that senior journalist Ansar Abbasi, anchorperson Shahzeb Khanzada, news editors of various newspapers and television channels, and bureau chiefs be summoned to testify.<\/p>\n
The court issued a notice to the prosecution regarding the request and sought its response at the next hearing. During the proceedings, Aleema Khan was also provided a questionnaire under Section 342 consisting of 37 questions. Two other accused, Adalat Qureshi and Tayyab Shah, recorded their statements under Section 342 as well.<\/p>\n
The court adjourned further proceedings until tomorrow.<\/p>\n
