KARACHI (HRNW):<\/b> The management of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has issued a new and strict directive for its flight attendants (cabin crew), which employees are labeling an excessively harsh order. Under the newly implemented policy, cabin crew members are completely prohibited from carrying cigarettes, cigar pipes, tobacco, and related items in any of their baggage, including personal luggage.<\/p>\n

According to the orders issued by the administration, a total ban has also been imposed on smoking during flight duties, hotel stays, and in public places. Due to this sudden and strict decision, crew members who are habitual smokers are facing severe difficulties.<\/p>\n

The issued instructions clarify that compliance with this new policy is mandatory for all flight attendants. The management has warned that any crew member found violating these regulations will be immediately suspended from duty, and a formal inquiry will be initiated against them in accordance with the law.<\/p>\n

Air line sources and observers note that even under general customs regulations, aircrew are traditionally permitted to carry a specific, limited quantity of cigarettes for personal use. However, the PIA management’s new decision is significantly more stringent than standard customs allowances.<\/p>\n

To obtain the airline’s official stance on this matter, the PIA spokesperson was contacted multiple times; however, despite repeated attempts, the spokesperson did not respond or clarify the management’s position.<\/p>\n
