Karachi (HRNW):<\/b> Expressing a resolute commitment to safeguarding the youth from the menace of narcotics, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police for District South Karachi, Asad Raza, stated that the path to drug addiction invariably begins with cigarette smoking, which must be curbed at its initial stages.<\/p>\n

Five-Core Pillar Anti-Narcotics Strategy Unveiled<\/b><\/h3>\n

Appearing on Geo News\u2019\u00a0 morning show Geo Pakistan<\/i>, DIG South Asad Raza detailed the police department’s comprehensive counter-narcotics framework.<\/p>\n

“Our dedicated Anti-Narcotics Policy is built upon 5 essential pillars,” the DIG explained. “Under this strategy, we are strictly ensuring that a stringent ‘Zero-Tolerance Policy’ is adopted and enforced against the use of cigarettes, vapes, and all other forms of contraband across all educational campuses.”<\/p>\n

Mass Awareness Campaigns for Students and Faculty<\/b><\/h3>\n

The DIG South emphasized that law enforcement alone cannot solve the crisis; it requires mass public engagement. He announced that a large-scale public awareness campaign would be launched inside schools, colleges, and universities. The campaign is designed to educate both students and teachers regarding the catastrophic physical, mental, and social repercussions of smoking, vaping, and synthetic drug usage.<\/p>\n

Mandatory Setup of ‘Anti-Drug Committees’ Urged<\/b><\/h3>\n

DIG Asad Raza strongly appealed to school and university administrations across the metropolis to officially declare their premises as “Drug and Smoke-Free Zones.” He urged campus managements to immediately formulate internal “Anti-Drug Committees” to closely monitor student activities, secure campus parameters, and prevent the infiltration of drug peddlers.<\/p>\n

Rehabilitation Over Punishment for Addicted Students<\/b><\/h3>\n

Highlighting a compassionate, reform-oriented approach, the DIG South clarified that the police department’s ultimate goal is to save the futures of young students, not destroy them.<\/p>\n

He assured the public that if any student is unfortunately found involved in substance abuse, the authorities will prioritize their complete rehabilitation and medical treatment (Rehab) rather than treating them as hardened criminals, facilitating their healthy reintegration into society.<\/p>\n
