According to Iranian officials, the operation was carried out by air defense units of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). Iranian authorities stated that the U.S. Reaper drone was attempting to approach the conflict zone from the northern Persian Gulf when it was detected and destroyed.<\/p>\n
