Pyongyang (HRNW) \u2013 Chinese President Xi Jinping has arrived in North Korea on a significant state visit, describing the relationship between China and North Korea as an \u201cinvincible friendship\u201d and expressing his commitment to further strengthening bilateral cooperation.<\/p>\n
Xi Jinping’s visit marks his first trip to North Korea since 2019 and comes at a time when nuclear negotiations between North Korea and the United States remain stalled.<\/p>\n
Upon his arrival in Pyongyang, the Chinese president emphasized the enduring partnership between the two neighboring countries. China has remained North Korea\u2019s largest trading partner and a key source of diplomatic and economic support for decades.<\/p>\n
The visit follows last month\u2019s meeting between US President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping, after which the White House stated that both leaders had reaffirmed the goal of denuclearizing North Korea. However, Kim Yo Jong, the influential sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, rejected the claim, insisting that North Korea\u2019s nuclear status is irreversible.<\/p>\n
In her statement, Kim Yo Jong described the US position as based on \u201cfalse information\u201d and asserted that Pyongyang would continue strengthening its nuclear deterrence capabilities.<\/p>\n
Observers note that China\u2019s primary objective remains maintaining stability on the Korean Peninsula. Some analysts suggest that Beijing may be seeking to preserve its influence in North Korea amid growing ties between Pyongyang and Moscow, particularly following North Korea\u2019s support for Russia during the Ukraine conflict.<\/p>\n
Experts also believe Xi Jinping\u2019s visit reflects China\u2019s efforts to balance Russia\u2019s expanding role in North Korea while reinforcing its longstanding strategic partnership with Pyongyang.<\/p>\n
In an article published in North Korea\u2019s official newspaper, President Xi stated that regardless of changes in the international situation, the traditional friendship between China and North Korea would remain strong, enduring and \u201cinvincible.\u201d<\/p>\n
