Islamabad (HRNW) \u2013 The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has reportedly decided to initiate action against non-filers who publicly display signs of significant wealth and luxurious lifestyles on social media platforms.<\/p>\n
According to sources, a large-scale enforcement campaign is expected to begin from October 1, 2026, following the completion of data collection and preliminary assessments. Authorities are reportedly compiling lists of individuals who showcase expensive assets such as luxury vehicles, high-value residences, farmhouses, boats and other indicators of substantial wealth.<\/p>\n
Under the proposed initiative, notices may be issued to individuals identified as non-filers, seeking details regarding their income sources, assets and tax compliance status.<\/p>\n
Sources said that the FBR has gathered extensive information on suspected cases, with assistance from relevant government institutions in verifying identities and obtaining necessary records. Financial activities, including banking transactions, credit card usage and other financial data, have reportedly been reviewed as part of the process.<\/p>\n
Officials are expected to provide individuals with an opportunity to regularize their tax status and submit tax returns by September 30, 2026. After that deadline, enforcement measures may be initiated in accordance with applicable tax laws and regulations.<\/p>\n
The move is part of broader efforts to improve tax compliance, expand the tax base and ensure that individuals with significant financial resources fulfill their tax obligations.<\/p>\n
