ISLAMABAD (HRNW)<\/b> \u2013 The Foreign Office (FO) has made it clear that while Pakistan is playing a sincere and positive role in establishing regional peace, cross-border terrorist attacks emanating from Afghanistan can no longer be tolerated, and India is not authorized to take unilateral actions regarding the waters of the Chenab River.<\/p>\n

During the weekly press briefing, Foreign Office Spokesperson Tahir Hussain Andrabi stated that the continuous string of terrorist attacks entering Pakistan from Afghanistan has severely tested Pakistan’s patience. He asserted that no responsible state can remain silent when its citizens and law enforcement agencies are continuously targeted.<\/p>\n

The Spokesperson noted that Pakistan remains one of the worst victims of terrorism, having sacrificed thousands of innocent lives. He emphasized that Pakistani security forces are actively confronting cross-border terrorism that is systematically planned, financially aided, and patronized from across the border.<\/p>\n

The Foreign Office also strongly condemned the ongoing Israeli aggression in Palestine, reiterating that Pakistan will steadfastly support the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people and completely rejects any attempts aimed at altering the status of East Jerusalem (Al-Quds).<\/p>\n

Furthermore, the Spokesperson expressed grave concern over India’s attempts to divert the waters of the Chenab River toward the Beas River. He stated that the de-silting of the Salal Dam in Indian-occupied Kashmir constitutes a blatant violation of both the 1978 Salal Agreement and the Indus Waters Treaty. He accused India of weaponizing water, a move that directly flouts international law.<\/p>\n

He clarified that under the Indus Waters Treaty, Pakistan retains the exclusive right to the unrestricted use of the western rivers, and Pakistan will safeguard its rights over the Chenab River at all costs. He warned that any attempts to jeopardize Pakistan’s food security could further escalate instability across the region.<\/p>\n

Discussing recent diplomatic endeavors, the Spokesperson shared that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif concluded a highly successful official visit to China, during which various Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) were signed. Following the China tour, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar visited the United States, where he held meetings with the American leadership to discuss Pakistan’s role in regional peace. US leader Marco Rubio also lauded Pakistan’s mediation efforts.<\/p>\n

The Spokesperson underscored that Pakistan is continuously making diplomatic efforts to defuse tensions between the United States and Iran to foster regional stability. Pakistan’s stance remains explicit: the resolution to conflicts lies not in warfare, but through dialogue and active diplomacy.<\/p>\n

He concluded by stating that Pakistan maintains robust diplomatic engagements with China, the United Kingdom, the European Union, and other global partners to ensure regional peace, stability, and to effectively counter shared global challenges.<\/p>\n
