Karachi (HRNW) \u2013 Prominent politician Manzoor Wassan has served a legal notice seeking Rs500 million in damages from former Additional Inspector General of Police Ghulam Shabbir Sheikh over alleged defamatory statements made in social media interviews.<\/p>\n
The legal notice, sent through Barrister Mustafa Mahesar, states that the allegations leveled against Manzoor Wassan by Ghulam Shabbir Sheikh are baseless, fabricated, and contrary to the facts. It further asserts that Wassan has categorically rejected all accusations made against him.<\/p>\n
According to the notice, the alleged false and malicious statements have caused serious harm to Manzoor Wassan\u2019s political reputation, personal dignity, and more than five decades of political service and struggle.<\/p>\n
The notice demands that Ghulam Shabbir Sheikh immediately issue a public apology and cease what it describes as propaganda against Manzoor Wassan. It warns that if an apology is not issued within 14 days, legal proceedings will be initiated under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) and relevant defamation laws.<\/p>\n
In addition to the public apology, the notice seeks Rs500 million in compensation for the alleged reputational damage. Manzoor Wassan\u2019s legal team stated that the purpose of the legal action is to protect the truth and discourage political character assassination through unsubstantiated allegations.<\/p>\n
