Islamabad (HRNW)- The livestock population in Pakistan has continued to grow, with notable increases recorded in the numbers of donkeys, buffaloes, sheep, goats, camels, horses and mules, according to the latest data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics.<\/p>\n
According to official documents, the number of donkeys increased by 1.013 million over the past year, raising the total population from 60.047 million to 61.060 million across the country.<\/p>\n
The data further revealed a significant rise in the buffalo population, which increased from 47.688 million to 49.155 million during the same period.<\/p>\n
In addition, the number of sheep grew by 392,000, while the goat population increased by 2.422 million. The camel population also recorded an increase of 16,000 animals.<\/p>\n
According to the statistics, the number of horses rose by 3,000 and the number of mules increased by 4,000 over the last year.<\/p>\n
The continued growth in Pakistan\u2019s livestock sector is considered important for the rural economy, agriculture and livestock-related industries, which contribute significantly to the country’s economic activity and food security.<\/p>\n
