Islamabad (HRNW)<\/a>\u2013<\/strong>\u00a0Field Marshal Asim Munir<\/strong> has officially assumed the position of Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) of Pakistan<\/strong>, and will serve in this role along with his responsibilities as Army Chief<\/strong> until November 29, 2027<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Following legislation passed in November 2024<\/strong>, the tenure of all service chiefs<\/strong> has been extended to five years<\/strong>, ensuring continuity and stability at the top of the armed forces. This law is already being implemented, with Air Chief Zaheer Ahmed Babar Sidhu<\/strong> currently serving under the same legal framework. His appointment, effective March 19, 2021<\/strong>, included a one-year extension ending March 19, 2025<\/strong>, but under the new legislation, he will continue his duties until March 19, 2026<\/strong> without requiring any additional notifications.<\/p>\n

Similarly, Field Marshal Asim Munir<\/strong> will carry out his duties as CDS and Army Chief for the next two years<\/strong>, without the need for any further extensions or official notifications. Officials emphasized that this is in line with the newly enacted law governing service chiefs\u2019 tenure.<\/p>\n
