Tehran (HRNW)- Iran has strongly reacted to multiple US airstrikes carried out in Hormozgan province and the Strait of Hormuz during the past 48 hours, calling the attacks serious violations of the ongoing ceasefire.<\/p>\n
According to international media reports, the Iranian Foreign Ministry said in an official statement that the United States targeted missile installations in Hormozgan province as well as boats allegedly attempting to lay mines in the Strait of Hormuz.<\/p>\n
While the Iranian Foreign Ministry did not provide complete operational details, the US has maintained that it will not allow naval mines to be deployed in the strategic waterway and has already begun mine-clearing operations.<\/p>\n
The United States described its military actions in the Strait of Hormuz as defensive measures, however Iran condemned them as aggressive and unjustified attacks and warned that Tehran would not hesitate to defend its sovereignty and people.<\/p>\n
It is worth noting that petroleum prices continue to rise globally due to tensions surrounding Iran\u2019s closure of the Strait of Hormuz, creating uncertainty and concern in international energy markets.<\/p>\n
Iranian officials have accused the United States and Israel of escalating regional tensions since February 28, while Washington and Western countries continue to accuse Iran of enriching uranium for the development of nuclear weapons.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has stated that negotiations aimed at ending the conflict are still possible, although reaching a final agreement may take several more days.<\/p>\n
