NEW YORK (HRNW) \u2013 During the annual debate on the protection of civilians at the United Nations Security Council, Pakistan strongly responded to India\u2019s remarks and rejected the allegations leveled by New Delhi.<\/p>\n
Pakistan\u2019s Counselor Saima Saleem said in her statement that India is attempting to portray itself as a victim before the world, but the international community is fully aware of its actions.<\/p>\n
She stated that India is involved in sponsoring terrorism abroad, occupying territories, committing atrocities against minorities, weaponizing water resources and carrying out aggression in the region, yet it attempts to lecture others on the protection of civilians.<\/p>\n
Saima Saleem said that India\u2019s alleged state-sponsored terrorism against Pakistan is a reality for which Pakistan has paid a heavy human cost. She claimed that groups such as TTP, BLA and the Majeed Brigade received financial support and facilitation from Afghan soil, resulting in attacks on thousands of Pakistani civilians.<\/p>\n
Regarding Afghanistan, she said Pakistan carried out precise and professional operations against terrorist hideouts, training centers and weapons caches based on reliable intelligence, targeting only terrorist elements and not civilians or civilian infrastructure.<\/p>\n
She also alleged that the Taliban government and its \u201cIndian patrons\u201d were running a misleading campaign against Pakistan to divert attention from terrorism-related issues.<\/p>\n
Speaking on Kashmir, Saima Saleem said India cannot hide or deny its occupation of Jammu and Kashmir. She alleged that killings, arrests, forced evictions, demolition of homes and violations of basic freedoms continue in the region, while Kashmiris are being denied their right to self-determination.<\/p>\n
She further criticized discrimination against minorities in India, including Muslims, Sikhs, Dalits and Christians, and claimed that Islamophobia has been institutionalized under extremist policies.<\/p>\n
The Pakistani diplomat also criticized India\u2019s suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty, calling it a violation of international law and stating that a country threatening the water and food security of millions has no moral authority to speak about civilian protection.<\/p>\n
Concluding her remarks, Saima Saleem said Pakistan believes in peace, dialogue, peaceful dispute resolution and adherence to international law, and seeks friendly relations with all countries based on mutual respect and sovereign equality.<\/p>\n
