Lahore (HRNW)- The Punjab government has reduced traffic fines across various categories, while the One App has also been updated to reflect the revised challan rates. Authorities have also started issuing challan tickets to commercial vehicles for traffic violations from today.<\/p>\n
According to the new traffic penalty structure, the fine for using a mobile phone while riding a motorcycle, lane line violations, disrupting traffic flow, pressure horn usage and similar violations has been fixed at Rs 1,000.<\/p>\n
Motorcyclists driving without helmets, violating one-way traffic rules or driving without a license will now face a fine of Rs 2,000. Drivers of 2,000cc cars will be fined Rs 2,000 for lane line violations and Rs 3,000 for traffic signal violations.<\/p>\n
Authorities have also announced a Rs 5,000 fine for commercial vehicle drivers operating without a license or violating traffic signals. Meanwhile, fines for smoke-emitting vehicles have been set at Rs 2,000 for motorcycles and rickshaws, Rs 3,000 for cars and Rs 5,000 for commercial vehicles.<\/p>\n
CTO Lahore Syed Abdul Rahim Shirazi said the main purpose of traffic challans is to reform citizens and encourage safer travel by ensuring compliance with traffic laws.<\/p>\n
