Islamabad (HRNW) \u2013 The Federal Constitutional Court expressed strong displeasure over the conduct of lawyers repeatedly seeking adjournments during court proceedings.<\/p>\n
During the hearing of a case in Islamabad, Justice Amir Farooq reprimanded former Supreme Court Bar Secretary Salman Mansoor. During the proceedings, Salman Mansoor requested more time to submit an inquiry report along with the appeal.<\/p>\n
Justice Amir Farooq questioned why the inquiry report had not been attached with the appeal initially, remarking that the basic procedural requirements had not been fulfilled.<\/p>\n
The judge further observed that in many other countries such conduct could result in heavy fines. Justice Amir Farooq stated that lawyers seek adjournments inside the courtroom while later criticizing judges publicly for delays in judicial work. In response, Salman Mansoor said that he does not make such speeches.<\/p>\n
Justice Amir Farooq remarked that political influence often leads people to make public statements and added that \u201c90 percent of adjournments are sought by lawyers themselves.\u201d He further said that judges spend entire nights studying case files only to face adjournment requests the next morning.<\/p>\n
The court also stressed that all relevant documents should have been attached with the appeal from the beginning and expressed serious reservations over what it termed irresponsible conduct by the legal counsel.<\/p>\n
It is worth mentioning that Salman Mansoor appeared before the court in a dismissal case related to allegations of illegal recruitment.<\/p>\n
