While speaking to Arab media, Pigott said that US President Donald Trump has clearly expressed a preference for a diplomatic solution, but emphasized that Washington will only agree to a deal that aligns with US national interests.<\/p>\n
He further stated that President Trump\u2019s position is clear that Iran must not be allowed to acquire nuclear weapons under any circumstances, adding that the objective is to secure a \u201cgood deal\u201d for the American people.<\/p>\n
The US State Department spokesperson also confirmed that Washington is closely monitoring ongoing negotiations with Iran as well as the broader regional situation. His remarks come amid growing diplomatic speculation about a possible ceasefire and easing of sanctions between the two countries.<\/p>\n
In recent days, international media reports suggested that the US and Iran could be moving closer to a framework agreement regarding conflict de-escalation and developments around the Strait of Hormuz, although US officials continue to maintain a firm stance on Iran\u2019s nuclear program.<\/p>\n
