Karachi (HRNW)- A girls’ hostel equipped with modern facilities, built at a cost of Rs 392 million, has been inaugurated at the University of Karachi. According to details, this girls’ hostel, consisting of a covered area of \u200b\u200b36,500 square feet, has been developed in collaboration with the Higher Education Commission, which has a capacity to accommodate more than 200 female students. The hostel consists of 67 rooms and each room has three beds.<\/p>\n
Addressing the inauguration ceremony, University of Karachi Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Khalid Mahmood Iraqi said that the establishment of residential hostels equipped with modern facilities in universities, especially large institutions, is the need of the hour, as female students from all over the country come to the University of Karachi to pursue higher education. He said that the University of Karachi is constantly striving to provide the best educational and residential facilities to its students, and this project is the result of teamwork.<\/p>\n
Addressing the ceremony, Director Planning and Development Saeed Ahmed Sheikh said that this project is an important milestone in the development history of the university. According to him, the hostel consists of a ground plus three building and has modern facilities including CCTV camera system, fire safety, dining hall, common room, waiting area and ramps and washrooms for special people.<\/p>\n
He said that the hostel has been provided with complete furniture for the female students while there is also a warden\u2019s office and other necessary facilities.<\/p>\n
The Vice Chancellor added that work is also underway on a project to convert the old girls\u2019 hostel into a rehabilitation center, which aims to further improve the health and rehabilitation facilities in the university. According to university officials, this modern hostel will provide the female students with a safe, comfortable and conducive environment for academic activities, which is expected to improve their academic performance.<\/p>\n
