Karachi (HRNW)- According to the Meteorological Department, the country is likely to experience more than normal rainfall and intense heat waves during May to July 2026. The Meteorological Department says that today, May 6, the weather will remain dry and slightly warm in most parts of the country, however, light rain is expected in the northern areas and light snowfall in the high mountainous areas. There may be rain in the upper areas of Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.<\/p>\n
According to the forecast, there is a possibility of more than normal rainfall in the northern, central and some southern areas of the country during May. These areas include Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, north and central Punjab and north Balochistan. Rains are also likely in the cities of northern Punjab, Lahore, Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Faisalabad, Sialkot, Sheikhupura, Murree and other areas.<\/p>\n
Similarly, rains have been predicted in Peshawar, Mardan, Swat, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Kohat and other districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, while rains may continue in Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir. According to the Meteorological Department, the rains may increase after mid-May and one to two strong systems may also affect the country.<\/p>\n
On the other hand, an increase in temperature has also been predicted, especially in the southern regions, where the temperature may reach 45 degrees Celsius. Severe heat waves are also expected after mid-May. According to weather experts, overall, there will be more rain in the northern regions from May to July, while the rains in the southern regions are likely to be normal or less.<\/p>\n
Due to the rains, there is also a fear of overflowing of rivers and possible flooding in the northern regions. The Meteorological Department says that the change in the situation will depend on the sea temperature and the intensity of the monsoon system.<\/p>\n
