Islamabad (HRNW)-\u00a0Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has launched the Apna Ghar Scheme in Islamabad, announcing major public welfare measures in the upcoming federal budget and unveiling an ambitious housing initiative aimed at helping citizens build their own homes. Addressing a ceremony in the federal capital, the Prime Minister said the government is preparing important and significant steps in the next budget to provide relief and improve the quality of life for the people.<\/p>\n
Under the Apna Ghar Scheme, citizens will be offered loans of up to Rs10 million on easy terms to construct their homes. The initiative has been expanded to all four provinces, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Jammu & Kashmir, with the objective of ensuring broad national access to housing opportunities. The Prime Minister said that a large number of people in Pakistan remain without adequate housing, and providing shelter to deserving families is a key national responsibility.<\/p>\n
He announced that in the first phase, the government has set a target of financing 50,000 houses, allocating Rs321 billion for the purpose. Over the next four years, the government aims to support the construction of 500,000 homes, while the total size of the scheme is expected to reach Rs3.2 trillion, covering housing construction on plots of up to 10 marla. Shehbaz Sharif also assured that he will personally review the project\u2019s progress every month to ensure timely and effective implementation.<\/p>\n
The Prime Minister further stated that banks actively participating in the scheme will be recognized for their contribution, and institutions showing outstanding performance will receive special awards on August 14. He added that the initiative is expected to stimulate the construction sector, boost industrial and commercial activity, and contribute positively to Pakistan\u2019s overall economic growth.<\/p>\n
