Islamabad (HRNW)- The Power Division has stated that improved LNG availability and increased water discharge for hydropower generation are expected to eliminate electricity shortfalls during night hours across Pakistan. In a statement regarding the power situation during peak hours on the night of April 29, the spokesperson said that no load management was carried out during peak hours last night, reflecting improved stability in the national grid.<\/p>\n
According to the statement, hydropower generation reached 6,000 megawatts yesterday, compared to the country\u2019s total hydropower capacity of 11,500 megawatts. Electricity generation has also increased due to the supply of local gas to more power plants. The spokesperson said that greater hydropower production and additional local gas supply have strengthened the national grid, particularly from southern Pakistan, making it easier to bring another 100 MW center online and transmit a total of 500 MW of electricity from the southern region.<\/p>\n
The Power Division further clarified that steps under the Economic Load Management Policy are being implemented only on feeders with high losses, and this policy is separate from load management during peak demand hours. Officials noted that 4,700 MW power plants are currently not generating electricity due to LNG shortages linked to global market conditions, but expressed confidence that with LNG availability and increased water discharge, the night-time electricity shortage will be resolved.<\/p>\n
