Washington (HRNW)- U.S. President Donald Trump has once again praised Pakistan\u2019s role in the Iran ceasefire talks, commending Field Marshal Asim Munir and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for their efforts in regional diplomacy. According to the World News Agency, President Trump had earlier announced the cancellation of a planned U.S. delegation visit to Pakistan in a statement posted on his social media platform Truth Social. He also stated that he had stopped Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner from traveling to Islamabad for ceasefire-related discussions with Iran.<\/p>\n
In a brief conversation with journalists before boarding Air Force One in Florida, President Trump said he holds a positive view of Pakistan and its leadership, although he questioned the practical need for such long-distance diplomatic visits. He described Pakistan as \u201ca great country,\u201d praised Field Marshal Asim Munir as \u201cvery wonderful,\u201d and called Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif \u201calso great.\u201d<\/p>\n
Trump further said that Pakistan\u2019s leadership also appears interested in progress on talks with Iran, but added that the U.S. would not undertake long and costly travel to meet individuals who are not widely known. He emphasized that even if an American delegation were to travel, it would not meet Iran\u2019s \u201creal leadership,\u201d but rather lesser-known representatives.<\/p>\n
He also stated that the United States is ready to engage in direct talks with whoever is actually in charge in Iran, adding that Iran can contact Washington at any time if it is willing to negotiate.<\/p>\n
