Karachi (HRNW)-\u00a0Submitting an alleged fake medical certificate to the court has proved costly for a female police officer, as the Judicial Magistrate South has ordered criminal proceedings against SDPO Defence ASP Nida Junaid.<\/p>\n
According to the court\u2019s written order, the female ASP had submitted medical certificates in response to a show-cause notice issued for her absence from court proceedings. The court subsequently sought verification from the concerned hospital regarding the authenticity of the certificates.<\/p>\n
The hospital, in its official response, declared the medical certificate fake, stating that no visit, treatment, or medical certificate had been issued in the officer\u2019s name on the mentioned date.<\/p>\n
The court order further stated that the documents submitted by the officer did not match the hospital\u2019s official records, and the certificates in question were not issued by the hospital.<\/p>\n
Following the hospital\u2019s report, another show-cause notice was issued to the female police officer. In her response, the SDPO Defence stated that the certificates were submitted in good faith and that any mistake, if made, was unintentional.<\/p>\n
The court observed that there was a clear difference in the signatures on the emergency and OPD slips, adding that presenting a fake document as genuine is a serious legal offence. The court further remarked that police officers are expected to strictly uphold the law, and involvement in such actions undermines the credibility of the justice system.<\/p>\n
Referring to Supreme Court rulings, the court noted that misconduct by police officials must be viewed more strictly than that of ordinary citizens. The court held that the female officer had committed misconduct and directed that criminal proceedings be initiated against the SDPO Defence, while also noting that the police department may take departmental action in accordance with the law.<\/p>\n
