Islamabad (HRNW)-\u00a0Pakistan and Turkey have signed a judicial cooperation agreement aimed at strengthening collaboration between the two countries\u2019 legal systems. The signing ceremony took place at the Supreme Court of Pakistan and was attended by Chief Justice of Pakistan Yahya Afridi, Chief Justice of the Federal Constitutional Court Justice Aminuddin Khan, President of the Constitutional Court of Turkey Kadir Ozkaya, Attorney General Mansoor Usman Awan, Law Minister Azam Nazir Tarar, and senior judicial officials.<\/p>\n
Addressing the ceremony, Chief Justice Yahya Afridi emphasized that the MoU is more than just a piece of paper and will provide an opportunity for the judiciaries of both countries to advance together, especially in areas of constitutional governance, fundamental rights, and judicial modernization. He highlighted the importance of artificial intelligence experts from Turkey in enhancing Pakistan\u2019s judicial system and mentioned arrangements for Pakistani judicial officers to visit Turkey.<\/p>\n
Chief Justice Kadir Ozkaya praised the competence of Pakistan\u2019s judges and described the agreement as a milestone in the exemplary brotherhood between Pakistan and Turkey. He noted that the judicial systems of both countries share common values and principles.<\/p>\n
The agreement focuses on judicial training, exchange of best practices, use of modern technology in delivering justice, and cooperation in professional training for the district judiciary. The Turkish delegation, led by Kadir Ozkaya, is visiting Pakistan from April 6 to 9 and will also tour historical sites in Taxila and Lahore.<\/p>\n
