According to official sources, the campaign will run from <b data-path-to-node=\"1\" data-index-in-node=\"216\">April 13 to April 19<\/b>, conducted simultaneously in Pakistan and Afghanistan to eliminate the polio virus from the region.<\/p>\n<h3 data-path-to-node=\"2\"><b data-path-to-node=\"2\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">Vaccination Targets and Regional Coverage<\/b><\/h3>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"3\">Pakistan and Afghanistan remain the last two countries in the world where polio is still endemic. To address this challenge:<\/p>\n<ul data-path-to-node=\"4\">\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"4,0,0\"><b data-path-to-node=\"4,0,0\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">Pakistan:<\/b> The campaign aims to vaccinate a total of <b data-path-to-node=\"4,0,0\" data-index-in-node=\"52\">45.3 million children<\/b> across 169 districts.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"4,1,0\"><b data-path-to-node=\"4,1,0\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">Afghanistan:<\/b> The drive will be completed across <b data-path-to-node=\"4,1,0\" data-index-in-node=\"48\">382 districts<\/b> in a single phase during the same timeframe.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 data-path-to-node=\"5\"><b data-path-to-node=\"5\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">Provincial Breakdown of Targets<\/b><\/h3>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"6\">In Pakistan, the provincial targets for children to receive drops are as follows:<\/p>\n<ul data-path-to-node=\"7\">\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"7,0,0\"><b data-path-to-node=\"7,0,0\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">Punjab:<\/b> 23.4 million children<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"7,1,0\"><b data-path-to-node=\"7,1,0\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">Sindh:<\/b> 10.5 million children<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"7,2,0\"><b data-path-to-node=\"7,2,0\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">Khyber Pakhtunkhwa:<\/b> 7.3 million children<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"7,3,0\"><b data-path-to-node=\"7,3,0\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">Balochistan:<\/b> 2.6 million children<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"7,4,0\"><b data-path-to-node=\"7,4,0\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">Islamabad:<\/b> 450,000 children<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"7,5,0\"><b data-path-to-node=\"7,5,0\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">Azad Kashmir:<\/b> 710,000 children<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"7,6,0\"><b data-path-to-node=\"7,6,0\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">Gilgit-Baltistan:<\/b> 280,000 children<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 data-path-to-node=\"8\"><b data-path-to-node=\"8\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">Frontline Workers and Operations<\/b><\/h3>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"9\">To ensure the success of this massive undertaking, over <b data-path-to-node=\"9\" data-index-in-node=\"56\">412,000 frontline workers<\/b> will be deployed:<\/p>\n<ul data-path-to-node=\"10\">\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"10,0,0\"><b data-path-to-node=\"10,0,0\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">343,000+ Mobile Teams<\/b> will conduct door-to-door vaccinations.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"10,1,0\"><b data-path-to-node=\"10,1,0\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">10,000+ Fixed Teams<\/b> and <b data-path-to-node=\"10,1,0\" data-index-in-node=\"24\">12,000+ Transit Teams<\/b> will be stationed at bus stands, railway stations, and public points.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"10,2,0\">While the campaign is set for 3 days in most parts of the country, a <b data-path-to-node=\"10,2,0\" data-index-in-node=\"69\">5-day special drive<\/b> will be conducted in high-risk areas using community-based vaccination models.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 data-path-to-node=\"11\"><b data-path-to-node=\"11\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">Special Cross-Border Strategy<\/b><\/h3>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"12\">A comprehensive plan has been established to prevent the transmission of the virus across the Pakistan-Afghanistan border. Fixed and mobile teams will be stationed at all crossing points to vaccinate every child under the age of five crossing the border. Additionally, children aged 6 to 59 months will receive <b data-path-to-node=\"12\" data-index-in-node=\"311\">Vitamin A supplements<\/b> to boost their overall immunity.<\/p>\n<h3 data-path-to-node=\"13\"><b data-path-to-node=\"13\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">Background and International Implications<\/b><\/h3>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"14\">The urgency of these campaigns is underscored by the reporting of <b data-path-to-node=\"14\" data-index-in-node=\"66\">31 polio cases<\/b> in Pakistan and <b data-path-to-node=\"14\" data-index-in-node=\"97\">9 cases<\/b> in Afghanistan during 2025.
