Karachi (HRNW)-\u00a0Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman has said that the government will not be allowed to drop petrol bombs on the people every week through repeated fuel price increases.<\/p>\n
Speaking at a press conference at Idara Noor Haq in Karachi, Hafiz Naeem alleged that the government took advantage of the war situation involving Iran to raise petrol prices, questioning the move despite official claims that the country has 28 days of fuel reserves.<\/p>\n
He appreciated the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government\u2019s decision to provide Rs2,200 relief to motorcyclists, and suggested that the Punjab government should also provide relief by selling Maryam Nawaz\u2019s Rs11 billion plane.<\/p>\n
Hafiz Naeem demanded a ban on the use of government vehicles above 1,300cc and the abolition of free petrol facilities, announcing that no Jamaat-e-Islami town Nazim would use a government vehicle larger than 1,300cc.<\/p>\n
He warned that weekly petrol price hikes are unacceptable, adding that Jamaat-e-Islami will strongly protest and resist such measures, especially at a time when Eid is approaching and many households are struggling to meet basic needs.<\/p>\n
The Jamaat-e-Islami leader also criticized US and Israeli actions in the region, saying that the alliance of the United States, India, and Israel has destabilized global peace. He urged Pakistan to review its policies and take a clearer stance on Iran.<\/p>\n
Hafiz Naeem further said that Russia and China should play their role in preventing the escalation of war, while also criticizing local governance issues, alleging corruption in development projects in Karachi.<\/p>\n
