KARACHI (HRNW):<\/b> For the first time in 12 years, the Senate of Benazir Bhutto Shaheed University (BBSU) Lyari convened for a high-level meeting presided over by Pro-Chancellor and Provincial Minister for Universities Ismail Rahoo. Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Hussain Mehdi provided a comprehensive briefing on the university’s academic direction, administrative reforms, and future strategies, leading to a serious and detailed discussion on the institution’s affairs. Pro-Chancellor Ismail Rahoo lauded the dynamic leadership of Dr. Mehdi for breaking the long-standing deadlock and making the session possible, while also directing a thorough investigation into why a Senate meeting had not been held for over a decade. During the session, Professor Dr. Umair Baig briefed the members on the university’s achievements over the past year, focusing on academic reforms, transparent appointment processes, and infrastructural development.<\/p>\n

Financial transparency remained a central theme as Director Finance Farogh Ali Naveed and Budget Officer Ashiq Silro presented the university’s financial reports spanning from the 2014-15 to the 2024-25 fiscal years. The Senate officially approved the budgets for the 2022-23, 2023-24, and 2024-25 periods and mandated a third-party audit of all financial records from 2014 to 2021 to ensure complete accountability. Addressing the gathering, Ismail Rahoo acknowledged that past administrative lapses had adversely affected the faculty and students, reiterating that the Sindh government remains committed to supporting universities despite limited resources. He emphasized that the primary goal of the institution is to empower students to compete globally and warned that the failure of an educational institution to meet its core objectives is a collective loss for society. The Pro-Chancellor concluded with an optimistic note, trusting that the current management would continue to work with integrity to rectify past damages and safeguard the educational future of Lyari\u2019s youth.<\/p>\n
