This landmark initiative aims to modernize urban transport while providing eco-friendly employment opportunities. In its initial phase, the government will distribute <b data-path-to-node=\"1\" data-index-in-node=\"319\">1,100 electric vehicles<\/b> (EVs) to eligible applicants.<\/p>\n<h3 data-path-to-node=\"2\"><b data-path-to-node=\"2\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">Incentives and Financial Structure<\/b><\/h3>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"3\">To ensure the program is accessible to low-income drivers, the Punjab government has introduced a heavily subsidized financing model:<\/p>\n<ul data-path-to-node=\"4\">\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"4,0,0\"><b data-path-to-node=\"4,0,0\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">Subsidized Down Payment:<\/b> The government will pay <b data-path-to-node=\"4,0,0\" data-index-in-node=\"49\">50% of the down payment<\/b> for male drivers and <b data-path-to-node=\"4,0,0\" data-index-in-node=\"94\">60% for female drivers<\/b>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"4,1,0\"><b data-path-to-node=\"4,1,0\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">Fee Waivers:<\/b> The provincial government will bear all costs related to <b data-path-to-node=\"4,1,0\" data-index-in-node=\"70\">vehicle registration, fitness tests, and token taxes<\/b>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"4,2,0\"><b data-path-to-node=\"4,2,0\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">Repayment Plan:<\/b> Beneficiaries can repay the remaining balance through easy installments over a <b data-path-to-node=\"4,2,0\" data-index-in-node=\"95\">five-year period<\/b>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"4,3,0\"><b data-path-to-node=\"4,3,0\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">Income Potential:<\/b> Officials estimate that drivers could earn between <b data-path-to-node=\"4,3,0\" data-index-in-node=\"69\">Rs 150,000 and Rs 200,000<\/b> per month through the scheme.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 data-path-to-node=\"5\"><b data-path-to-node=\"5\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">Focus on Women Empowerment and Safety<\/b><\/h3>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"6\">A significant feature of the scheme is the <b data-path-to-node=\"6\" data-index-in-node=\"43\">30% quota reserved exclusively for women<\/b>. To enhance visibility and safety:<\/p>\n<ul data-path-to-node=\"7\">\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"7,0,0\"><b data-path-to-node=\"7,0,0\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">Distinct Branding:<\/b> Taxis operated by female drivers will feature a <b data-path-to-node=\"7,0,0\" data-index-in-node=\"67\">distinctive color<\/b> (pink\/green) for easy identification.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"7,1,0\"><b data-path-to-node=\"7,1,0\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">Safety Integration:<\/b> Every vehicle is equipped with a <b data-path-to-node=\"7,1,0\" data-index-in-node=\"53\">Panic Button<\/b> directly linked to the <b data-path-to-node=\"7,1,0\" data-index-in-node=\"89\">Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA)<\/b> for immediate emergency response.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"7,2,0\"><b data-path-to-node=\"7,2,0\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">Digital Integration:<\/b> The E-Taxis will be integrated with popular ride-hailing apps like <b data-path-to-node=\"7,2,0\" data-index-in-node=\"88\">InDrive<\/b> and <b data-path-to-node=\"7,2,0\" data-index-in-node=\"100\">Yango<\/b> and will support digital payment systems.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"8\">The Chief Minister also announced that <b data-path-to-node=\"8\" data-index-in-node=\"39\">fast-charging stations<\/b> will be installed at key public locations across the province to support the new fleet.
