Speaking to journalists after an Iftar gathering in Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Naroo lamented that the “lawlessness of profiteers” and a lack of administrative oversight have made basic food items unaffordable for common citizens. He pointed out that since the start of Ramadan, fruit prices have surged by nearly 100%<\/b>, while weekly short-term inflation (SPI) rose by 1.16%<\/b>, pushing annual inflation figures to approximately 5.19%<\/b>.<\/p>\n
Naroo highlighted a severe disconnect between government-issued price lists and the actual market reality, noting that items like flour, sugar, pulses, and meat are being sold at rates 30% higher<\/b> than official notifications. He alleged that the district administration has failed to enforce these rates, with some officials reportedly accepting bribes to allow shopkeepers to sell goods at arbitrary prices. The MQM-P leader called for the immediate activation of price control committees and the establishment of more effective “Sasta Bazaars” to provide genuine relief to middle- and low-income families who are struggling to maintain basic nutritional needs during this spiritual month.<\/p>\n
