Under the strictly implemented &#8220;no permission, no travel&#8221; policy, airlines, ferries, and train operators are now legally required to bar any passenger who does not hold a valid digital authorization from boarding.<\/p>\n<h3 data-path-to-node=\"2\"><b data-path-to-node=\"2\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">Mandatory Requirement for 85 Nationalities<\/b><\/h3>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"3\">The Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) is now a mandatory legal requirement for citizens of <b data-path-to-node=\"3\" data-index-in-node=\"95\">85 countries<\/b> who previously enjoyed visa-free entry, including the <b data-path-to-node=\"3\" data-index-in-node=\"162\">United States, Canada, France, and Australia<\/b>.<\/p>\n<ul data-path-to-node=\"4\">\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"4,0,0\"><b data-path-to-node=\"4,0,0\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">Cost:<\/b> \u00a316<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"4,1,0\"><b data-path-to-node=\"4,1,0\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">Validity:<\/b> Two years (or until the passport expires)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"4,2,0\"><b data-path-to-node=\"4,2,0\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">Usage:<\/b> Permits multiple journeys for stays of up to six months.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 data-path-to-node=\"5\"><b data-path-to-node=\"5\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">The Impact on Dual Citizens<\/b><\/h3>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"6\">In a significant shift, British dual citizens\u2014those who hold British nationality along with another passport\u2014are now facing stricter boarding requirements. While they are technically exempt from needing an ETA, they can no longer travel to the UK using only their non-UK passport. To board a flight or vessel, they must now present:<\/p>\n<ol start=\"1\" data-path-to-node=\"7\">\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"7,0,0\">A <b data-path-to-node=\"7,0,0\" data-index-in-node=\"2\">valid British or Irish passport<\/b>, OR<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"7,1,0\">A <b data-path-to-node=\"7,1,0\" data-index-in-node=\"2\">Certificate of Entitlement<\/b> (Right of Abode) linked to their foreign passport.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3 data-path-to-node=\"8\"><b data-path-to-node=\"8\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">Digital Shift for Visa Holders<\/b><\/h3>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"9\">As of February 25, the UK has also largely ceased issuing physical visa stickers (vignettes). Most visitors requiring a visa will now receive an <b data-path-to-node=\"9\" data-index-in-node=\"145\">eVisa<\/b> only, which is accessed through a UKVI online account.
