Islamabad (HRNW)– The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has approved a new tranche of $1.3 billion for Pakistan. According to a private TV, the IMF Executive Board meeting was held in Washington, in which the release of about $1.3 billion was approved for Pakistan.

According to sources in the Ministry of Finance, this amount is being given as the third tranche of the loan under the $7 billion Extended Fund Facility (EFF) program, after which Pakistan will receive more than $1 billion.
According to sources, after the approval of $1.3 billion, Pakistan will also receive the first tranche of more than $200 million, which will take the total amount received by Pakistan under both loan programs to $3.3 billion. Two tranches of the EFF program have already been released to Pakistan.
In addition, the IMF Executive Board also approved the second economic review of Pakistan. The IMF has described the implementation of the ongoing loan program as strong and appreciated the governmentâs commitment to continue economic reforms.
This is the third tranche of the EFF program for Pakistan. Pakistan received the current 37-month loan program in September 2024. The first tranche of one billion dollars of this program was released in September 2024, while the second tranche was released in May 2025.
