Karachi (HRNW)- Rescue and search operations are continuing for the fourth day after a tragic fire broke out in the busy commercial center Gul Plaza. According to officials, the fire broke out around 10 pm on Saturday night, resulting in the death of 28 people so far.
Rescue sources said that the identification of 11 of the 28 deceased has been completed, while the identification process of 17 people is still underway. 85 people are missing since the incident, and the search operation is still ongoing to find them.
The Mayor of Karachi has claimed that a total of 70 percent of the rescue operation has been completed, while a regular search operation is being started in the damaged parts of the building from today. In addition, some parts of Ramipa Plaza located next to Gul Plaza will also be searched today.
According to fire brigade officials, the search operation has been completed in all open areas, from where no body was recovered. The fire officer says that the cooling process has been completed and the smoke has also cleared, after which access to more damaged parts is being made possible.
According to officials, the rescue operation is continuing with utmost caution to avoid any further damage, while efforts are being made to provide all possible assistance to the affected families.
